Bye, bye biodiversity? Say NO

Paradójicamente, en el año que se celebra la Biodiversidad en todo el mundo, las Islas Canarias (archipiélago donde vivo) está viendo en peligro a muchisimas especies autóctonas. Nuestros "considerados" políticos se han propuesto reducir el Catálogo de Especies Protegidas en un 50% (el registro elimina 226 especies protegidas, rebaja la cobertura a otras 131 y ampara a 94). ¿Intención? En fin, no hace falta tener mucha imaginación para aventurar que las razones tienen que ver por ejemplo con la especulación urbanística: con esta reducción las trabas a la hora de construir se merman.

Me duele. Me duele muchísimo. Amo mi tierra, y pensar en esto sólo me hace temer que las futuras generaciones no vayan a poder disfrutar del lugar en el que viven.

It hurts. It hurts a lot. I love my islands, and this just makes me fear that future generations will not be able to enjoy the place in which they live.
